**CAUTION: IT DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS**

Sydney is not the same anymore. She has changed so much she’s barely recognizable from the previous books – but I’m glad this change occurred and she was able to be a step closer to freedom and happiness (at least for brief moments anyway).

This book is so much into love that I still can’t believe I enjoyed it, seeing that romances are not my type. Well, the thing is, apart from the fact that I was eagerly hoping Sydney and Adrian would be together since book 1 – which finally happened – it is very cute to see them together because they are a great couple, and from an older person’s perspective, it is somehow sweet to see the fierceness of love at their age…and I would like to give a thumbs up to the author for not holding the sex until the last page and also, of course, that it flowed easily and intensely, with no regrets or big dramas just because it is sex, if you know what I mean.

Other than that, not much happening in Palm Springs. Yes, both Sydney and Adrian have some breakthroughs with their own stuff (Alchemist’s ink, magic, Strigoi “vaccine”), and there’s also a few developments in regards to Jill/Eddie/Angeline/Trey’s relationships, but that’s all.

Light reading that becomes increasingly tense towards the end without you even noticing it. I was ready to read another 300-400 pages when I realized the book had ended with that powerful sentence – it was brilliant (and disappointing at the same time – next book will be available only on summer 2014, i.e., winter here in Australia = at least 6 months of waiting!).

Now, the negatives (only one, actually): again we have them explaining what is an Alchemist, a Strigoi, a Dhampir, etc etc. This is the 4TH BOOK, for Christ’s sake, so this is VERY BASIC and we don’t need any explanation any more! I don’t believe anyone would begin reading this book knowing that there are 3 prior releases.

And the “hate” moment: I simply and completely hate bloody Zoe Sage. Stupid stupid stupid girl, and I hope Sydney never ever forgives her for what she did.

But back to the good things, and this is a very good one indeed: there is another POV on this book besides Sydney, and this is Adrian! Yes, we are inside his mind, seeing the world through his eyes. It doesn’t get better than that :)

Buy The Fiery Heart from: The Book Depository or Amazon.
